hello friends,

it’s Sunday and I made a promise at the beginning of the year that I would poast and write my way through the whole year, with a weekly post on Sunday.

I did not do that without fail but I have a feeling I could complete the routine as the year comes to a close, which would still be intensely satisfying from a habit / commitment perspective.

I started the year on a job hunt, realized it’s a fools errand, asked for support, received it and now am determined to build a coaching business / empire.

The summer was busy with my gf moving in with me and then planning TREEWEEK TWO with the homies.

Moving in together provided some challenges that came out of left field for me — challenges I couldn’t post publicly about because I had to develop an understanding about them together with Julia. Otherwise we would have been out of integrity.

Planning TREEWEEK TWO — getting 60+ people together in remote-ish north-east Germany and throwing a week long party-retreat — has a tendency to warp time like crazy and it consumes (subsumes?) me. I become the TREE and that’s about it, not much time and space for other things.

With normalcy and routine knocking back on the door as harvest season is in full effect, I just realized I should pick this back up. Hello friends.

The summer carried me across a few lifetimes it felt like, so I’m not sure how useful a retrospective is. Instead I’d like to offer you (and me) some plans and intentions for the future.

Let me re state some core tenets.

1) My mission is to help people live good lives.

2) What I believe leads to that is

• active leadership in business and personal life

• understanding oneself and others

• assessing life honestly

• using clear language

• focus on love.

3) My practical goal right now is to build a bridge between my wisdom focused community on Twitter and IRL to the tech and money focused startup and business scene. We need their money and they need our wisdom.

I help everyone I can but I need to get paid by leaders. I’m most interested in working for business leaders and successful artists.

I’m currently working with some very interesting clients and the occasional friend, so my coaching practice is active. I am a coach, I’m getting paid for my work, I’m doing good work. I’m sure of all of that, there is no identity or quality confusion here anymore.

So, the task is to find more people who want to work with me, so coaching is becoming a sustainable business for me. There is also a component of productizing and grouping clients, so that time:revenue is a more efficient quotient. The good thing is that grouping people together for a coaching container does not take away from the effect. People get to know each other in a learning environment and it is beautiful and immeasurable. No scruples there.

As always, it is a distribution problem (non derogatory).

Here are some plans I have — I need to prioritize them and put them into order but I’ll just spill them here.

• run an audience focused podcast centered around wisdom, where I also invite my friends who are getting Serious about their work and introduce them as Serious Players with good Talking Points rather than just friends chit chat podcast. mix business and wisdom guests

• create a coaching supergroup with a few select friends I trust 100%. Sell their services in addition to my own and make some good $$$ together. use the group leader status game to leverage my impact in the market (puff myself up a bit) while my friends know I’m working for them non sociopathically.

• use the coach builder framework to finalize website and some basic machine structure (website, mailing list, lead generator, marketing basic blabla) that allows me to build a larger network as I wander the world.

• visit networking events and find a group of business people I like and I can help.

• unclench myself and keep my eyes very open for invitations and opportunities under my nose.

On that last note, 2 ladies in the cafe have invited me to join them — she said they’re celebrating their fathers death — so I have a calling and I will follow it. Can’t say no to that.
